LOT Polish announces Miami-Warsaw nonstop

LOT Polish has officially announced that it shall be launching new nonstop flights to MIA-Miami, USA effective 01JUN19. 

LO will operate the service 4 times per week using a B788 using the below schedule:

LO 029 Dep WAW 1205 Arr MIA 1730
LO 030 Dep MIA 2005 Arr WAW 1215+1

P2P traffic in 2017 between WAW and MIA was 18,000 passengers round trip

Comments:

With MIA not being a Star Alliance hub and catering largely to low yielding leisure traffic originating from Eastern and Central Europe, LO may find the route more harder to fill consistently at 70% SF. It would have been better for them to consider flying to IAD-Washington DC instead of Miami due to the following reasons:

1. P2P traffic between WAW and IAD is just 1,000 pax less than MIA i.e. 17,000 vs 18,000 however the average one way market fare of WAW-IAD is almost double of MIA and thats where the money is to be made i.e. $280 vs $540 

2. In addition, IAD is a major Star Alliance hub of UA which can provide a healthy dose of beyond feeder traffic all over the continental U.S which cannot be done out of MIA as its a One World hub.

3. Apart from OS, IAD lacks a strong presence to Eastern Europe which LO can easily provide via its WAW hub.
